Motion Detection 2.0 is an improved process that pairs enhanced motion detection technology with the existing passive infrared (PIR) technology used in Motion Detection 1.0.

Motion Detection 2.0 is an improved process that pairs enhanced motion detection technology with the existing passive infrared (PIR) technology used in Motion Detection 1.0.

Note: Motion Detection 1.0 refers to firmware version 3052 or lower and can still be accessed from the camera's settings. For more information about how to adjust the motion detection mode, see Adjust the motion detection mode of the Alarm.com Slim Line Doorbell Camera.

  • An Alarm.com Slim Line Doorbell Camera on firmware version 3058 +

Motion detection mode comparison

PIR:

  • Uses the full screen

Enhanced motion detection:

  • Uses a fixed lower portion of the screen
  • Object size matters

Sensitivity slider:

  • Increases and decreases the seconds of continuous motion before trigger occurs

Sensitivity slider:

  • Increases and decreases the size of the fixed area
  • Increases and decreases the minimum object size
  • Extremely High sensitivity disables PIR

Automatic settings configuration after upgrade

When the Alarm.com Slim Line Doorbell Camera's firmware is updated from 3052 or lower to 3058 +, it is automatically configured based on its existing sensitivity setting. You can readjust the sensitivity and motion detection mode after the update is complete.
