Overview
Lights synced with the Amazon Alexa app can be controlled using many different commands. Below are some example commands for a light with the name Office Light.

Example commands
To request the status of a light
"Alexa, is my Living Room Light on?"
To turn the light on or off
“Alexa, turn off the Office Light.”
“Alexa, switch on the Office Light.”
“Alexa, flip off the Office Light.”
To control a dimmable light in addition to on/off commands
“Alexa, dim the Office Light to 25 percent.”
“Alexa, increase the Office Light by 50 percent.”
“Alexa, make the Office Light 25 percent brighter.”
Frequently asked questions
How do I control a specific light?
To control lights using the Smart Home skill, you must use the exact name of the light or group name as defined by Amazon Smart Home. This is different from the Alarm.com skill where you can give commands without mentioning a specific light.
