Create/edit a Garage Left Open notification

This operational reference is organized for GoSafer Security customers and staff. Alarm.com product names are retained where required for technical accuracy.

Overview

A Garage Left Open notification can notify users if the garage door is left open for a specified duration or if a specified Geo-Device leaves the area.

Procedure

To create/edit a Garage Left Open notification using the Alarm.com app

1. Log in to the Alarm.com app.
2. Tap [Menu].
3. Tap Notifications.
4. Tap [Settings].

To edit the notification, tap to select the Garage Left Open notification.

If the notification has not been created, tap [Add], and then tap Garage Left Open.

Rename the rule.

In When any of these doors, tap to select the garage doors to be notified about.

In Is Left Open, select any of the following options

Using the For this duration dropdown menu, select the number of minutes the door must be left open to receive a notification.

There is also the option to receive a notification based on geographical location in When selected people cross a Geo-Fence by selecting the Geo-Devices and crossing preferences.

In During this time frame, specify when to receive notifications.

At All Times sends a notification anytime the garage is left open.

Only during the following times specifies the days and times that the notifications is sent.

To add notification recipients, tap Add.

1. Tap to select the desired recipients from the Address Book, or add an unlisted recipient by tapping Add Contact.
2. Tap Close.
3. Verify the notification is configured with the correct settings.
4. Tap Save.

To create/edit a Garage Left Open notification using the GoSafer Security customer portal (powered by Alarm.com)

1. Log in to the GoSafer Security customer portal (powered by Alarm.com).
2. Click Notifications.

To edit the notification, click [Edit] for the Garage Left Open notification.

If the notification has not been created, click New Notification, and then click to select Garage Left Open.

Name the notification rule.

1. Select the names of the garage doors to receive notifications from.

Using the For this duration dropdown menu, select the number of minutes the door must be left open to send a notification.

There is also the option to receive a notification based on geographical location in When selected people cross a Geo-Fence by selecting the Geo-Devices and crossing preferences.
