# Create/edit a Door was left open notification

## Overview
A door was left open notification can notify users of a door/window that has been left open for a specified time period, or if specific users leave the premises while the sensor is open.
## Procedure
### To create/edit a Door was left open notification using the Alarm.com app
1. Log in to the Alarm.com app.
2. Tap \[Menu\].
3. Tap Notifications.
4. Tap \[Settings\].
### To edit the notification, tap to select the Door was left open notification.
### If the notification has not been created
1. Tap \[Add\].
2. Tap Use A Template.
In Business, tap Door was left open.
Name the new notification.
In When any of these sensors, select the sensors to be notified about.
### In Is Left Open, select either
For this duration to select the amount of time the sensor must remain open before sending the notification.
When select people cross a Geo-Fence to select when specific users enter or exit a location.
### In During this timeframe, select either of the following
At All Times to be notified at all times.
Only during the following times to select specific days and times to be notified.
In Recipients, tap Add.
1. Tap the entries in Address Book to be notified or tap Add Contact to add a new Address Book entry.
2. Tap Close.
3. Verify the notification is configured with the correct settings.
4. Tap Save.
### To create/edit a Door was left open notification using the GoSafer Security customer portal (powered by Alarm.com)
1. Log in to the GoSafer Security customer portal (powered by Alarm.com).
2. Click Notifications.
### To edit the notification, click \[Edit\] next to the Door was left open notification.
### If the notification has not been created
1. Click New Notification.
2. Click Business.
3. Click Door was left open.
Name the notification rule.
In When any of these sensors, select the sensors to be notified about.
### In Is Left Open, select either of the following
For this duration to select how long a door is left open.
When select people cross a Geo-Fence to select when specific users enter or exit a location.
### In During this timeframe, select either of the following
At All Times to be notified at all times.
Only during the following times to select specific days and times to be notified.
In Recipients, click Add to choose notification recipients.
1. Click the entries in Address Book to be notified, or click New to add a new Address Book entry.
2. Click Close.
3. Verify the notification is configured with the correct settings.
4. Click Save.
