Create a sensor activity notification

Overview

A sensor activity notification can notify users if a contact sensor is opened or a motion sensor is activated.

Procedure

To create a sensor activity notification using the Alarm.com app

Note: If you do not see the options, verify the Alarm.com app is on the most updated version.

1. Log in to the Alarm.com app.
2. Tap [Menu].
3. Tap Notifications.
4. Tap [Settings].
5. Tap [Add].

In Create Your Own, tap Sensor Activity.

In the Notification name field, enter the desired name for the notification rule.

In When any of these sensors are open or activated, tap to select the sensors to be monitored.

If you do not see the sensor you want to monitor, verify monitoring is enabled for it. For more information about enabling monitoring for sensors, see Turn sensor activity monitoring on/off.

In During this time frame, tap to select either

At All Times to receive a notification every time the selected sensors are opened or activated.

Only During the Following Times to specify a specific time to receive notifications when the selected sensors are opened or activated.

In Notification Filtering, tap to select any desired notification filtering settings.

1. Tap Add Recipients.

In the Address book, tap to select the recipients to notify, or tap Add Contact to add a new Address Book recipient.

1. Tap Close.
2. Verify the notification is configured with the correct settings.
3. Tap Save.

To create a sensor activity notification using the GoSafer Security customer portal (powered by Alarm.com)

1. Log in to the GoSafer Security customer portal (powered by Alarm.com).
2. Click Notifications.
3. Click New Notification.
4. Click Sensor Activity.

In the Notification name field, enter the desired name for the notification rule.

In When any of these sensors open or are activated, click to select the desired sensors to monitor.

If you do not see the sensor you want to monitor, verify sensor activity monitoring is enabled for it. For information about enabling monitoring for sensors, see Turn sensor activity monitoring on/off.

In During this time frame, select either

Only During the Following Times to specify a specific time to receive notifications when the selected sensors are opened or activated.

In Notification Filtering, click to select any desired notification filtering settings.

1. Click Add.

In the Address book, click to select the recipients to notify, or click New to add a new Address Book recipient.

1. Click Close.
2. Verify the notification is configured with the correct settings.
3. Click Save.

In the following example, a text, email, and push notification are sent whenever the contact or motion sensors are opened or activated.
