# Change thermostat overshoot settings

## Overview
Thermostat overshoot determines the number of degrees the thermostat will keep the system on above (during heating) or below (during cooling) the target setpoint.
## Procedure
### To change thermostat overshoot settings using the Alarm.com app
1. Log in to the Alarm.com app.
2. Tap Thermostats.
3. Tap \[Settings\].
If there are multiple thermostats in the system, tap the name of the thermostat to be adjusted.
1. Tap Device Settings.
In Overshoot, tap \[Add\] or \[Minus\] to adjust the number of overshoot degrees.
1. Tap Apply.
### Note: The minimum overshoot is 0 degrees and the maximum overshoot is 3 degrees.
### To change thermostat overshoot settings using the GoSafer Security customer portal (powered by Alarm.com)
1. Log in to the GoSafer Security customer portal (powered by Alarm.com).
In the Thermostat card, click \[Details\].
1. Click Advanced Configuration.
In Overshoot, click \[Up\] or \[Down\] to adjust the number of overshoot degrees.
1. Click Save.
### Note: The minimum overshoot is 0 degrees and the maximum overshoot is 3 degrees.
