Create an event-triggered security system automation rule

This operational reference is organized for GoSafer Security customers and staff. Alarm.com product names are retained where required for technical accuracy.

Overview

Event Triggered Security System rules allow you to automatically arm or disarm your security system based on lock activity.

Procedure

To create an event-triggered security system automation rule using the Alarm.com app

1. Log in to the Alarm.com app.
2. Tap [Menu].
3. Tap Automation.
4. Tap [Add].
5. Tap New Rule.
6. Tap When to select devices to trigger the rule.
7. Tap to select Lock.
8. Tap to select the trigger devices and status (i.e., Locked or Unlocked), then tap Done.
9. Tap Then to select devices to be triggered.
10. Tap to select Security Panel.
11. Tap to select the partition (if applicable) and action (i.e., Arm Stay, Arm Away, Disarmed), then tap Done.

Note: When selecting Disarmed as the action to be performed for this rule, anyone with access to the selected lock will be able to disarm the security system simply by unlocking the lock locally with a user code, regardless of whether the user has been given security panel access.

In Type Rule Name Here, enter a name for the rule.

If desired, configure when the rule will run

1. Tap Run at All Times to edit when the rule will run.
2. Select one of the following options:

At All Times for the rule will be carried out any time of day.

Only during the following times to determine the specific days and times the rule will be carried out.

1. Tap to select the days of the week the rule will be active.

Using the Starting at dropdown menu, select the start time for this rule.

Using the Ending at dropdown menu, select the end time for this rule.

1. Tap Done.
2. Verify the rule is configured with the desired settings.
3. Tap Save.

To create an event-triggered security system automation rule using the GoSafer Security customer portal (powered by Alarm.com):

1. Log in to the GoSafer Security customer portal (powered by Alarm.com).
2. Click Automation.
3. Click Add New Rule.
4. Click New Rules Builder.
5. Click When to select devices to trigger the rule.
6. Click to select Lock.
7. Click to select the trigger devices and status (i.e., Locked or Unlocked), then click Done.
8. Click Then to select devices to be triggered.
9. Click to select Security Panel.
10. Click to select the the partition (if applicable) and action (i.e., Arm Stay, Arm Away, Disarmed), then click Done.
